What do you do when life gives you lemons?

I’m sure you never thought my very first blog post could change your life! Well, lucky for you, I not only enjoy a cool refreshing glass of freshly squeezed lemonade, but I’m also an expert at making lemonade. If you’ve ever felt that one minute you could climb Mt. Everest and the next minute you can hardly climb out of bed, this lemonade recipe is for you. It’s so easy to go down the rabbit hole of lists of things you can’t seem to get right. There may be times we may feel as though we don’t relate to anyone, not even the people we’re related to. Well, the good news is we can take those sour curve balls of life and make something very sweet and palatable.

Necessary Ingredients:

Most of us have heard the saying, “no man is an island”. That saying is oftentimes interpreted to mean that no one is self-sufficient, and we all rely on others. In other words, help from others is a necessary ingredient. However, aligning yourself with the right people is the difference between sweet lemonade and bitter lemon juice.

Not to be the person who is always quoting others, but there is another quote that comes to mind. The quote, “if you go within, you will never go without.” Sounds like another key ingredient is self-awareness and purposefully doing things that add value to your life. It could be something as simple as meditation, taking a walk, or reading a book.

Conclusion:

There will be times that challenge us in life. However, we don’t have to shoulder the peaks and valleys alone. Taking time to take a step back and evaluate your feelings about a particular situation will often help you identify what is causing you to feel overwhelmed and ways you can redirect those feelings into a path likely to bring a better outcome. When the task seems too much, reaching out to others for help when needed is a sign of strength. The takeaway: when life gives you lemons make lemonade and if you’re up to it, find someone whose life has given them vodka and throw a party! What’s your secret ingredient to life?
